The firm is pleased to announce that Kelley C. Keller, Esq. has been selected by the Central Penn Business Journal as one of the region’s “25 Women of Influence” for 2013. Attorney Keller was selected for her “leadership, significant career accomplishments and community involvement.” She will be featured in a video presentation at the annual “Women of Influence” event in May, and in a special publication in the May 17 issue of the Central Penn Business Journal.
Kelley C. Keller, Esq., was recently a guest on the The Social Network Show. In an interview with Dr. Natalie L. Petouhoff, Attorney Keller addresses the three (3) important elements of the relationship between social media policies and the law:
– Why companies need social media policies
– How to craft social media policies that are beneficial to the brand
– How to enforce social media policies in a manner that is respectful to the rights of both the employer and employee
Attorney Keller explains that strong employee engagement in social media can be a great PR tool, and that having social media policies that create fair boundaries but are not overbearing is key to a healthy workplace. Her goal is to provide information that will help guide you to success in brand promotion and management in the new media world.
Kelley C. Keller, Esq. is honored to be named one of Central Penn Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” award recipients for 2012. Selected by an independent panel of judges, the “Forty Under 40” are a group of young rising “stars who help make [the Central PA] region’s business community shine.” Candidates for the honor are evaluated and chosen based on evaluation in three areas: (1) excellence in business; (2) commitment to community; and (3) professional achievement.

Copyright Recapture has arrived! The Copyright Act of 1976 provided for copyright owners who transferred their copyright interests on or after January 2, 1978 (the effective date of the law) to a third party, e.g. record company, publisher, movie studio, the right to terminate those transfers, or “recapture” their rights, 35 years after the initial transfer or grant. Copyright owners must give between two (2) and ten (10) years notice to the publishing house or recording company that they intend to recapture their rights on a particular date. How exactly all of this will pan out is uncertain, as the requisite 35-year waiting period was first triggered on January 1, 2013. One thing is for sure, however, copyright recapture is “changing the bargaining power for artists,” says our very own Attorney Keller.

Keller Law Firm attorney Meghann Garrett, Esq. serves as Counsel to the Board of Directors of the newly formed Carlisle Young Professionals. In a conversation with Sentinel Report Matt McLaughlin, she said: “I am counsel, but I am also a very excited member,” said Meghann Garrett, Keller Law Firm attorney and CYP legal counsel. “I’m really looking forward to the things that they’re going to be doing.” The firm is thrilled to have her serving the community in this important role and to being an active part of CYP.
The firm is thrilled with the Sentinel’s story on how The Keller Law Firm started with one lawyer, a laptop, kitchen table, and dream for a life with flexibility and choices while doing what she loved. During a conversation with firm founder, Kelley Keller, Esq., and Executive Director, Elizabeth Reusswig, Sentinel Reporter Matt McLaughlin thoughtfully captured the genesis of the firm and its unconventional path to success. Keller summed things up by telling the paper: “I’m bringing this really broad base of international experience and working with massive brands to a small firm … in an approachable setting. It’s the small firm pricing structure, but you’re getting the experience that’s born out of working with a large firm.” She elaborated: “I surrounded myself very, very thoughtfully and carefully with excellent people who do that.” Combine experience, an amazing team, and dogged perseverance and success is certainly yours for the taking.
Keller Law Firm attorneys Kelley Keller, Esq. and Meghann Garrett, Esq. had the pleasure of attending the Women on the Rise luncheon presented by the Business Women’s Forum (a multi-chamber consortium) at HACC’s Wildwood Conference Center. The program focused on Corporate Social Responsiblity and featured an executive panel with some heavy hitter executive from the companies such as Hershey and Starbucks. In speaking with Sentinel Report Matt McLauglin, Kelley Keller said about the event: “I thought it was very well done … [y]ou have a responsibility, as a business entity, to the community in which you work.” Meghann Garrett offered comments as well: “I didn’t know anything about the topic.” During the event, she said: “I spent a lot of time thinking about how, being a small law firm, … we could employ some of the things they were talking about. It was interesting to see how not only the large companies but also the small companies are using the techniques.”
After this event, the firm developed its own Social Responsibility Mission and is actively implementing a firm-wide Corporate Social Reponsibility program.
